This odd mushroom was found growing on a grassy patch that is covered with dead spruce leaves. The patch is covered in shade by the large spruce and it is very wet due to collecting rain. (I found all 5 mushrooms at the same spot)
The cap is partly torn, but assuming radial symmetry the cap is depressed. The surface is scurfy. The cap margin is appendiculate.
The stem is really short and smooth. It is also hollow. There is no partial veil. The bulb is unknown as it is not in the photo and I couldn’t find it.
The gills are adnate in attachment. They are thick and broad. They appear wavy and their edge is crenate. The gill spacing is close.
I would id this mushroom as a Russula spp. from mainly the hollow stipe, as well as some other similarities with the cap shape.
