The samples plated on these media are the decaying leaves from the fig tree in our backyard. There is a significant difference in growth between the two media, with the PDA medium (top) having larger fungal growth overtaking around two-thirds of the petri dish. On the other hand, the CMA medium (bottom) has similar fungi growing as the PDA medium but at a much slower rate. The PDA appears to provide a better growth medium due to the sheer size of each of the fungi growing on the plate compared to the CMA.
