I isolated this fungus from air outside my sundeck and it has been growing on PDA media. This fungus is dark greenish black in colour from the top and has radial growth. It also exhibits imprints of 4 lines on each “corner” of the circle making this fungus quite pretty from the top and bottom. The bottom appears to look like a flat black circle. To me, this mold looks the most like Cladosporium herbarum because of the radial growth and the colour scheme. Cladosporium is dark green from the top and dark brown from the bottom which is how this unknown fungus looks like. However, Cladosporium herbarum has a brown border which I don’t really see on the fungus I am identifying and plus the unknown fungus has imprints of lines which Cladosporium herbarum doesn’t have. But overall, I would say it most closely resembles a Cladosporium herbarum. In our notes there is a picture of Penicillium chrysogenum which also seems to have imprinted lines in them and for that reason, I think this unknown fungus could be Penicillium chrysogenum as well but it does not have white border around it like Pencillium chrysogenum.
