This colony grew from a tea-stained paper coaster that I cut up and plated.
The colony is large and grows radially. In the photo, you can see that there is another colony growing nearby which created a zone of inhibition which caused its odd shape. The colony itself is white with many black dots on top of the white mycelia. On the bottom, we can see that the layer of white mycelia is relatively thin so we can see the black dots through it. The surface of the colony is very bumpy from all the black dots that are growing on it. The black dots I presume are sclerotia. The sclerotia do not grow on strands and sit just above the white layer of mycelia. It is a relatively fast grower.
I would ID this as Sclerotium cepivorum, or a similar species as it shares similar morphologies with it. A key difference is that in my sample, the layer of white is very thin so you can see through it.
