This fungus was growing from a swab taken from a metal fence. It is the same dark brown throughout, growing outward with branch-like mycelia and has a very thin layer of white on the top, not captured by the camera. It grew slowly, half an inch in a week before being overgrown by other fungi, when it stopped growing altogether. Based on its current appearance, this mold is Stachybotrys chartarum.
