left media is PDA and right media is CMA.
The plates contain samples from dirt (soil) and a leaf of a dead plant. (on PDA plate the soil particles moved around a little bit so the growth patterns might look a little confusing)
fungi growth a little faster in PDA plate for soil sample and majority of the plate area is covered by it. also two different types of fungi growth from the soil sample can be seen on both plates (yellow colonies, white colonies). However, it seems like the growth area from leaf sample is a little larger on the CMA plate so faster growth compared to the PDA plate. However, this can be due to less competition because the distance between the samples was much larger on the CMA plate.
so overall I think PDA plate is a better media that supports fast growth of many different types of fungi.
(however, for these samples we don’t really see a huge difference in the growth on different plates but still the a larger area is covered on the PDA plate but again because the particles moved it is a little hard to give a definite answer)
