I found this mushroom off a trail path, growing under a log and in tree debris.

The cap is smooth and convex. White Gills are close together and evenly spaced and narrow. Gills start at stem, possibly adnexed but I’m not sure. Stem looks fibrous, central and equal.

I think this is a russsula and from additional resources I think it’s Russula emetica that is young.
