Browning plant material was removed from the roots of an aloe vera plant growing in water. After this plant was struggling to stay healthy in soil, I removed almost all of the roots to allow it to adjust to a strictly water environment. One worry for this method is the fungal growth that can occur in the roots and base of leaves causing rot. One leaf was suffering this in the soil and I want to see the roots are afflicted by fungal growth. I expect fungal growth from this sample due to the fact that I did not scrub the roots and surrounding areas when switching from soil.
