The right side of each plate holds a dusty grapefruit peel while the left side was lightly speckled with sink mold. The plate on the right contains PDA while the plate on the left contains CMA. The growth difference is staggering, shown by the spores trying to escape the parafilm around the PDA plate. Also, the sink mold is almost completely pigmented in the PDA plate while it is still trying to spread in the CMA plate.Spores were already trying to escape the PDA after 3 days while spores were just being produced on the CMA plate. For fungus growing out of the grapefruit peel in particular, PDA is a far superior growth media.
