1) The media is soil from the base of a rotten log that was mixed with 10mL of water.
2) The PDA plate looked like it had two layers on fungi; a darker bottom with a fuzzy, white layer that grew on top. The CMA plate looked like it only grew one fuzzy, white layer.
3) I think the PDA media is better in this case. Both plates were confined to the same area, but the PDA plate could grow multiple fungal layers while the CMA layer could only grow one.
