I took a sample from a soft and almost rotten looking mini eggplant which I bought from the grocery store. It was in a state where it was quite discolored and was really soft and that’s why I decided to sample from the dark brown area which looked like damaged tissue to me. Since the eggplant did not show signs of already present mold, I don’t know what to expect. But, I am assuming that there will be higher fungal growth than a standard bright purple eggplant. There will be higher fungal growth because firstly the mini eggplant was quite soft and secondly it had a lot of dark brown marks which showcased that it was not a healthy vegetable.
