1. This mushroom was acquired from Nester’s, as the weather became colder, I found some difficulties finding mushrooms outside. This type of mushroom is typically grown on logs.

A healthy mushroom of this type has the following characteristics: the cap shape of the mushroom is depressed, cap margin is even, cap surface is smooth, the partial veil is stellate, the gills seem decurrent in attachment, the gills also seem broad, spacing of the gills is rather crowded and the gills also possess even edges. The stem is located centrally, and the structure of the stem seems equal, there may be some sheathing occurring and the surface of the stem seems peronate.
3. I believe that this mushroom is a Pleurotus, as it is commercially known as an oyster fungus.
