This fungus was isolated from some healthy cactus tissue, and is growing in PDA. From the top, the fungus looks like it has a pink base with white mycelia at the edges and surface of the colony. On the bottom, the colony is yellow. This fungus grows pretty slowly because the colony is very small compared to others on the plate. Based on the colour, I think that this fungus is Fusarium oxysporum since it’s pink and white on top and yellow on the bottom. However, the white portion of this colony doesn’t look as fluffy as the image shown in lab, so it could be another species of Fusarium that we did not cover. Apparently Fusarium also causes rot in cacti (also this tissue was from a healthy baby cactus), which further supports my hypothesis.
