Sample taken from a brown leaf picked up from the ground outside my house. This fungi is growing somewhat irregularly as opposed to in a circle, and has a deep, rich reddish brown to reddish orange colour. The bottom is a similar colour to the top, with some cream coloured mycelium that isn’t visible on the top. This colouration leads me to think that this could be Epicoccum nigrum, or a similar species. Looking at the bottom of the plate, the browns and reds and oranges can be seen more clearly, and these colours are not found in the other colonies on my plates or on the fungi we have covered in lab, so this unique colouration is mainly what I have based my identification on.
