On the left side of both plates (left plate CMA and right plate PDA) is a sample taken from a yellow leaf I picked up from the ground of Burns Bog. The right half of both plates is a sample taken from a green leaf I took off a plant in Burns Bog. There appears to be more growth on the PDA plate for both the green and yellow leaf and they both produced a deeper red on the PDA plate. This could indicate the fungi is reaching the end of its growth and is producing more secondary metabolites. Overall PDA appears to be better if you just want to grow fungi however if you wanted to isolate or find individual fungi the CMA plate would be better. There is less growth and so fungi are not overtaking one another.
