This colony grew from a sample of dried lavender that’s been living in my bathroom for over a year. This is from the CMA plate.
The colony is grey on the top and the bottom, except towards the centre at the bottom it is black. The edge of the colony is very soft and fades into a white. It grows radially and its growth rate is relatively fast. It is flat.
There isn’t much fungi on our list that looks quite like this one, so I would say it looks closest to Thielaviopsis basicola due to the top being a lighter colour and the bottom being the same colour, but at the centre it is almost black. The key difference however is that Tielaviopsis is brown and much lighter on the top, while my sample is greyish green and a bit darker.
