This is a sample from onion skin that has black spots, grown on PDA. The top is has black spots (I suspect are spores) scattered over the plate. The bottom is a cloudy white. In the CMA medium (not shown) there was a ring that formed, I suspect it may have been due to exposure to light (day night cycle) but that is uncertain since I did not deliberately put it in the light. This mold was not on our list of fungus, however, it should be Aspergillus niger, a common black mold found on onion skin.
