For the sample on the left of both pictures I took a slice of a browning apple and plated it. For the right of both plates I took a swab of my fruit bowl in which I had some browning apples and bananas. The PDA plate is on the left and CMA on the right. I observed that both samples did equally well on both plates. The sample from the fruit bowl exploded with growth on both plates with one fungi appearing to take over (green in colour), while the apple sample had some growth but not a lot. It is hard to say which plate, the PDA or CMA, is better when the samples do equally well. It you want to observe growth or isolate a fungi you could do it on either plate in this case.
