This mushroom was found growing from soil in Lynn Valley, a fair distance away from the river and a couple hundred feet higher. It had an ovoid cap with an entire margin and a smooth, glabrous surface. The veil completely covered the gills so I did not see the gills at all. The stem was central, terete, and equal, with a scabrous surface. The mushroom was about 2cm tall, and the cap was at most 1cm across. I think this is a very young Wooly Pine Spike mushroom, Chroogomphus tomentosus.
