In these two media, I plated some water from the birdbath in front of my house. I noticed immediately that there was a lot of bacteria growing on the PDA plate compared to the CMA plate. There was also a lot more fungal colonies growing on the PDA media where in the CMA media, it looks like there are only two very small colonies, and no bacterial contamination. In terms of the amount of fungi that grew on the media, PDA is a lot better than CMA. However, I wouldn’t want to isolate any fungi from this plate just because there is so much bacteria growing on the plate. Instead, I think the CMA plate would be better for isolation purposes because the fungi are well separated and there is no bacteria present.
