This fungus was isolated from birdbath water and is growing in PDA. Compared to the other fungi growing on the plate, this one stood out because the mycelia were very tall and reached the top of the Petri dish. From the top, it is a light yellow colour and it also looks like there are specks of black on the tips of the mycelia (possibly sporangia?). On the bottom, the colony is just light yellow. I would also say that this fungus has a medium growth rate because it’s not too big or too small. From this picture, it looks like the fungus could be Mucor racemosus because from lab, we learned that it grows very tall and has sporangia. The colour also matches up with the image that was shown in class. Mucor racemosus is typically found in soil though, and I’m not too sure if it could be found in water.
