On the left side of each plate is the peace lily leaf and on the right side are a few dried lavender buds that are a year old.
Much like another plate I had, the PDA plate is covered with this white fluffy fungus, and looking at the bottom of the plate noticeably affected the growth of the other types of fungi growing on the plate. Normally, I see much more and faster growth on the PDA, but this white fluffy fungus seems to have prevented the other types of fungi from growing on the plate so we see more of the different black ones on the CMA plate.
Arguably, the CMA plate is a better one as we can see and isolate some of the black fungi, and we can glean more precise data from it due to the less overlap between the fungi. The PDA plate can arguably be better however if the fungi of interest is the white fluffy one that dominated the entire plate.
