This is a picture of a tree from whose base I took a soil sample. I took it on a cold and rainy day, so the soil was quite moist. There were a lot of leaves around the base of the tree, where I also found some worms. I took this soil sample as 1. We typically expect to find fungi growing in the soil and 2. This area seemed to have lots of nutrients, and so I would expect lots of fungal growth.
