The two samples plated on these dishes are from the decaying flesh of a sad Halloween pumpkin and the mold around a leaky pipe. The growth between the two media are quite similar, but if looked at more closely, the the fungi from the water leak sample have larger growth on the CMA plate, whereas the pumpkin fungi are experiencing more rapid growth on the PDA plate, with more colonies and larger fungal growth. Given this, perhaps the PDA plate provides a better growth medium for the pumpkin fungi, and the CMA plate supports better growth for the sample of mold around the water leak.
