I took a water sample from the birdbath I have in front of my house. The birdbath itself hasn’t been cleaned in a while so there was a lot of sediment found at the bottom of it. The water is rather dirty so I’m expecting to see some organisms (maybe bacteria) growing on the plates I inoculated, but maybe not fungi since water fungi are typically harder to find. The sample I took was from the surface of the water after it rained, and I did not mix up the water before sampling, so that might also decrease my chance of getting fungi (expect to see none/low fungal growth). However, I think I would have a higher chance of finding fungi in this water compared to a relatively clean source of water.
