1. I found this mushroom growing on rock outside of my dorm. There was a cluster of three in which two of them appeared blackened.
2. The mushroom has a flabelliform (“fan-shaped”) cap, the margin of the cap was even, the cap surface seemed to be uneven, the partial veil of the mushroom seems to be most similar to a cortinate structure, there is no gills present on this mushroom (bolete). The stem is located in the center of the mushroom, the stem structure appears to be equal, bulb seems to be granular, the surface of the stem seems to be punctate.
3. I believe that this mushroom is a Lycoperdon. This mushroom is a round, ball-like mushroom that releases spores upon contact similarly to the “puff ball” Lycoperdons also grow in clusters, as shown in our slides from lab five.
