On each plate there is a green leaf taken from a living tree (left) and a brown leaf taken from the ground (right). The CMA plate is on the left in this image and the PDA is on the right. The PDA plate appears to have both larger growth overall and more kinds of fungi growing on it. In this case, the PDA is better than the CMA because it supports more growth and more diversity of fungi from the samples.
