This fungus was found growing on a dead tree stump. Just from looking at it I recognize it from what we went over in class. It seems to be Trametes versicolor, or “Turkey Tail.” It is a polypores, or, a shelf fungus. It has many shades of brown with different coloured rings. It is growing in this flat, overlapping pattern. It was not possible to see a stem, as they are shelf fungus. The caps (the only visible growth) are flat, irregular in shape, and have some splits, but not very many.
