The fungi were found on the inner paths of Green Timbers, and these fungi were growing through the dead log. There was no cap, remnant of veil or gill present. The fruiting body had an erect hard stipe with branching tip, and its color had a gradient of black (bottom) to white (tip). I think the fungi is Xylaria hypoxylon.
