This mushroom was growing from a mossy ground with lots of dead plant materials around. It’s stem and cap are mostly white. There is a slight beige color on the cap nearing the center.
This mushroom is gilled. The cap shape is sunken or depressed with even margins. The surface of the cap and stalk are smooth. There is no partial viel.
The gill attachment is recurrent. The breadth appears to be narrow, and the thickness average. The spacing is subdistant-close. All the edges are smooth.
The stem is central, and the shape of the stem is round. I did not dig this mushroom up so I don’t know the bulb type.
I think this mushroom is part of the russula genus. I think it could be a Russula brevipes, as that is a common mushroom in N.America. It shares some qualities of Russula brevipes such as being white, having a depression in the center, and a relatively short stem.
